Hi, This is my first triathlon event and I just have a couple of questions.....
I've read that water temperatures at the end of October are around 70-78. Does anyone have any advice on whether on not to use a wetsuit?
Also, after the swim, is there a rinse station to rinse off sandy feet before lacing up shoes for the bike/run?
Thanks for any advice!!! |

| Current water temp is 83. IF it goes under 78 you will be allow to wear a wet suit this will be decided on race morning by USAT officials. If you have a wet suit bring it. As far as rinse for the feet, most people bring a small container and put water in it. |

Thanks to a cold front that moved in over the weekend the water temps have dropped significantly.

It's supposed to warm up during the week, so we'll just have to wait and see what the water is like on race morning. It's likely they'll find some water that is less than 78 degrees though. |

| There are water faucets, bathrooms and outside showers where you can fill your water bucket. |

this is my first tri - and it "seems" at this point that wetsuits will be legal since the water is at 72 degrees today... my question is: do you think more people than not "will" be wearing wetsuits? And does is really give that much of an advantage? What about a swim skin - are they any good? Thanks for any input.. SO EXCITED!!! |

I think when the water is this temperature and hypothermia is NOT a factor, the wetsuit can be psychologically advantageous to some nonswimmers. Yes, you are a little bit more bouyant. However, this is a short swim. You might go a little bit faster, but then you need to take the time to peel it off your body. Is it worth it?
I am a swimmer and wetsuits feel really claustrophobic to me. I have only worn one once and that is when the water was 67.
Remember! Don't do anything new on race day!

| I did an OW swim today at Sand Key, and the water felt cold, but I saw on a website that the water at St. Pete was 79 and at Clearwater Beach, it was 77. Where did you see that it was 72? |

Now it is saying 71 degrees I would think it is correct... but who knows... and I swear on the chalk board at packet pick-up behind the table where you get your t-shirt it said "wetsuit legal" Guess we will all have to wait and see on Sat! |

| Are snorkels legal? Is there plenty of parking at the registration area? |
